Job summary

The Mount Sinai Morningside seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team, perform scrub duties, gowning, gloving, and maintain aseptic technique.

Under supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, you will set up sterile instrument tables, assist with draping, anticipate needs for instruments and supplies, monitor counts, and help transport patients and specimens as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Graduation from Certified CST Training Program.
• Experience in operating room setting preferred.
• NBSTSA Certification in Operating Room Technology required.
• Must have surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis; performs scrub, gowning, and gloving.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and prepares supplies for operation.
• Assists and anticipates needs of surgeon for instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Maintains correct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with circulating nurse.
• Maintains aseptic technique and reports discrepancies promptly.
• Assists in care and disposition of specimens; helps dressings and drainage.
• Assists in moving patient and preparing for next procedure.
• Assists nurse in preparing medications or solutions for surgery.
