Job summary

St. Joseph's/Candler is seeking a Scrub Technician to provide patient care under the direct supervision of OR staff during surgical cases. You will scrub in, assist circulating duties, and help obtain supplies, instruments, and equipment required for procedures.

The role emphasizes setting up the OR, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting the team to ensure efficient, safe surgeries with quick turnover between cases. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Scrub Technician provides patient care under the direct supervision of O.R. Staff Nurse through scrubbing surgical cases. Assist Nurse with circulating duties. to include helping to obtain the appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Education
• Graduate of a Surgical Technician Program - Preferred

• Set up OR room per guidelines for each procedure, with quick turn over times between cases.
• Seeks and maintains National certification after one year of employment and or eligibility requirements met for specific certification.
• Light sources, instruments and accessory equipment are consistently checked for proper functioning. Performs as an assistant to attending physician under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures by cleaning counters, light sources, carts, emptying suction canisters and sets up appropriate equipment for next procedure.
• Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
• Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
• Educates and implements AORN standards. Educates and implements environmental standards.
• Follows established processes for achievement of tasks. Keep team leader/management team informed of tasks not completed or challenges in assignments.
