Job summary

North Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the OR team in a full-time daytime schedule. The role includes preparing the operating suite, passing instruments, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring instrument counts and sterility throughout procedures.

Requires Surgical Technician Certification, BLS within 30 days, and a high school diploma. Excellent English communication and ability to work under pressure are essential for this demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Surgical Technician Certification current & in good standing REQUIRED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• High School Diploma REQUIRED.
• Strong English communication skills (read/write/speak) and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery.
• Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

• Licenses: Surgical Technician Certification current & in good standing REQUIRED.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
• High School Diploma REQUIRED.
