Job Summary

Under supervision, performs duties in the OR to assist the surgical team, following established policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Scrubs on all types of procedures, handles instruments, sutures, sponges, and assists surgeons, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Prepares for surgeries by ensuring equipment and supplies are ready.
• Maintains a clean and safe OR environment, sterilizes equipment, and restocks supplies.
• Assists in patient transportation, verifies identity, and helps with patient positioning.
• May assist as second circulator, and participate in educational programs and policy development.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent training/experience.
• Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
• One to two years of experience preferred.
