Qualifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through NBSTSA required or
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NSAA required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred

Responsibilities

• Functions as a scrub person during procedures, maintaining sterile supplies and instruments.
• Performs first assistant duties including exposure, suctioning, and sponging as directed by the surgeon.
• Dissects tissues, clamps vessels, controls bleeding, and places drains per surgeon guidance.
• Assists with wound closure, suturing and dressing according to instructions.
• Ensures sterility and safety, follows infection control protocols, and assists RN circulator.
• Prepares instruments for decontamination and transports for sterilization.
• Supports post-procedure turnover and corridor readiness for the next case.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
