Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the perioperative team. You will assist physicians and maintain a sterile field during procedures, coordinating supplies and patient care in a fast-paced operating room.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program and 2+ years OR experience preferred. BLS is required; CST certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.
• 2+ years of current operating room experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required; CST certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative preparation, reviews physician preference list and assembles supplies and equipment.
• Functions as scrub person during procedures, maintaining a sterile field and assisting with draping.
• Applies knowledge of anatomy and pharmacology to support patient care during surgery.
• Participates in time-outs, risk assessments, and case summaries for each procedure.
• Demonstrates leadership, mentoring and orientation of staff and students as appropriate.
• Provides age-appropriate care, ensuring patient understanding and comfort with treatment.
• Precepts and supports ongoing training, documentation, and core competency development.
