Job summary

Trinity Health's MercyOne facility in Iowa is seeking a Surgical Technician, CST to support intraoperative care in the Operating Room. The position is a day shift, full-time 0.9 FTE (36 hours/week), with a $10,000 sign-on bonus for qualified applicants.

Requires graduate of an accredited surgical technology program; CST certification preferred; BLS; ability to work under pressure. Competitive benefits offered by MercyOne Health System as part of Trinity Health.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
• Or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
• CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. CST certification is required if working in Illinois. LPN license is required if you are a graduate of an LPN program.
• No prior experience is required.
• BLS. Mandatory Reporter.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability; and the ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity.
• Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

Responsibilities

• As a Surgical Technician, CST at MercyOne, your functions in the scrub role during intraoperative patient care, doing so as a delegated technical function under the direct supervision of the perioperative Registered Nurse.
• Join the MercyOne Family and support standard, compassionate, patient-centered care in the Operating Room.
• Assist with preparation and handling of instruments and supplies for each case.
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.
• Collaborate with team to promote efficient case flow during day shifts.
