Job summary

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join our team in Somerset, KY. You’ll set up the operating room, pass instruments, and maintain a sterile field to support the surgeon and deliver patient care.

We offer a six‑month orientation, opportunities in General OR or Neuro with cross training, and programs for tuition reimbursement, scholarship support, and a strong culture of safety that guides our daily work.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have graduated from an accredited surgical technology program or possess equivalent relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within one month from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Before an operation, helps set up the operating room and organizes the sterile table with instruments, equipment, linens and solutions.
• Checks, adjusts, and operates equipment such as sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units and diagnostic tools.
• Maintains supply of fluids (plasma, saline, blood, glucose) for use during operation.
• Prepares patients for surgery (washing, shaving, disinfecting incision sites), transports and positions them, and covers with sterile drapes.
• Scrubs hands/arms and wears sterile attire to work within the sterile field and handle instruments and supplies.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, passes instruments, and provides sterile items efficiently.
• Assists with specimens for lab analysis, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and applies dressings as directed.
• Cleans and restocks the operating room, adheres to The Joint Commission standards, and attends in-service training.

Our Surgery Center offers a family oriented, supportive environment with a six month orientation to set you up for success. How You’ll Contribute

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments, and providing sterile items in an efficient manner.
• Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and applies dressings as directed.
• Cleans and restocks the operating room.
• Adheres to The Joint Commission (TJC) on professional standards and attends hospital in-service training sessions as directed. Provides age‑appropriate care for all age groups.

What We’re Looking For

Applicants should have graduated from an accredited surgical technology program or posses equivalent relevant experience. Additional requirements include:

• High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred; Surgical technologists graduate from surgical technology program ( Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education/certification. )
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required one month from hire date

Schedule

5x8, Days (6:30am - 3:00pm), evenings, nights, and weekend on‑call rotation
