Job summary

City of Hope in Goodyear, AZ is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a PRN daytime role (6:30AM start time; may vary). 12-16 hrs per week with call for nights, weekends and holidays.

The successful candidate will function as a scrub person under a surgeon and circulating RN to support safe, efficient invasive procedures. Scrub techs must have a High School Diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Training program.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instruments, suture material, power equipment and supply terminology.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures as scrub tech under surgeon and circulating RN.
• Ensure sterile environment and proper equipment function.
• Assist in patient safety and intraoperative care.

Surgical Technologists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Sr. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a surgeon and circulating RN to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Sr. Surgical technologists are individuals with specialized education who function as members of the surgical team in the role of scrub person.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalency
• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist Training program
• Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
• Special Skills:
• Possesses a thorough working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, instruments, suture material, power, specialty equipment, medication and supply terminology
