Job summary

City of Hope seeks a Surgical Technologist II to support surgical and endoscopic procedures, maintain supplies, and ensure compliance and readiness for surveys. This is a full-time role with 10-hour day shifts (4 per week) starting at 6:45 am, with a sign-on bonus eligible up to $7,500.

Responsibilities include assisting surgeons, maintaining sterile technique, safeguarding patient confidentiality, mentoring teammates, and ensuring department equipment and supplies are well maintained.

Qualifications

  • Experience scrubbing major or endoscopic procedures preferred.
  • Certification in CST required or equivalent.
  • Basic life support certification (AHA) required.
  • Minimum education: post high school vocational training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeons during operative/invasive procedures, ensuring supplies, instruments and equipment are ready.
  • Maintain sterile techniques; monitor for breaches in sterile technique.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and protect unit data.
  • Mentor colleagues and support ongoing care and maintenance of department equipment.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Surgical Technologist II. In this role, you’ll be responsible for a range of technical tasks to assist surgical and/or endoscopic procedures. Your duties will include maintaining appropriate levels of supplies, cleaning and decontaminating equipment and instruments, and participating in initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and readiness for surveys. This position is listed for full‑time, 10‑hour shifts (4 shifts per week), and day shifts (6:45 am start time).

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Assist surgeons during operative/invasive procedure, assuring that necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready and/or available and anticipates such needs.
  • Maintain sterile techniques; actively monitor situations which could lead to breaches in sterile technique.
  • Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
  • Participate in educational programs and in‑service meetings.
  • Serve as clinical mentor to others. Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain and promote clinical competence and expertise of self to ensure clinical excellence, patient safety and positive clinical outcomes.
Your qualifications should include:
  • Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training.
  • Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience scrubbing major and/or endoscopic cases in a hospital setting.
  • Current CST (Surgical/Endoscopic Technologist Certification) by appropriate accredited organization.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
