Job summary

City of Hope, Irvine, is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for the Operating Room to support sterile preparation, anticipate needs, and assist the surgical team. The role requires maintaining sterile technique and aiding in turnover and equipment care on an OR team of four rooms.

Eligible for sign-on bonus of $7,500. The position features 3×12 hour shifts (06:30 am – 07:00 pm) with weekend coverage and on-call, and requires 3 years of hospital scrubbing experience and a BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Post-high-school vocational / specialized training is required.
• 3 years of experience scrubbing major and/or endoscopic cases in a hospital setting.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operative procedures and ensure supplies and equipment are ready.
• Maintain sterile techniques and monitor for breaks in sterility.
• Participate in turnover, stocking, and care of instruments and department equipment.

As a vital member of the Operating Room Team, your responsibilities include setting up and maintaining a sterile field for surgery, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and assisting in patient care. Your participation in activities to ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness is integral to our commitment to providing safe and effective surgical care.

About the OR

• 4 Operating Rooms
• Types of OR cases, not limited to: Urology, GYN, Breast, Reconstructive Urology, and Colorectal, General, Plastics and Thoracic
• Types of Endoscopic cases, not limited to: Colonoscopies, ERCPs, EGDs, and Bronchoscopies
• Work schedule: 3 × 12 hour shifts, 06:30 am – 07:00 pm, including weekend coverage and on‑call

As a successful candidate, you will

• Assist surgeons/proceduralists during operative/invasive procedure, ensuring that necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready and/or available and anticipates such needs.
• Maintain sterile techniques; actively monitor situations that could lead to breaches in sterile technique and communicate any breaks in techniques noted.
• Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies; actively participate in turnover processes, stocking of rooms, and proper care of instruments.

Your qualifications should include

• Post‑high‑school vocational / specialized training; experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
• 3 years of experience scrubbing major and/or endoscopic cases in a hospital setting.
• BLS certification.

For candidates with fewer than 3 years of experience, you will be considered for Surgical Technologist I (Pay range: $32.13 /hr – $40.16 /hr – $48.21 /hr).
