Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a PRN Surgical Tech to support our operating room team. You will prepare sterile supplies, maintain a sterile field, and assist surgeons with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have completed a Surgical Technology program, possess certification, current BCLS, and at least two years of experience. This role offers PRN shifts with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training in the Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 2 or more years of Surgical Technologist experience is REQUIRED

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of applying surgical gloves using aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field.
• Demonstrates knowledge of preparing for surgery by pulling the appropriate supplies and instruments for the procedure.
• Understands and recognizes the different surgical instruments and their applications.
• Displays appropriate knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology to prepare and assist in procedures.
• Maintains a safe sterile field by labeling medications and understanding devices that generate heat to prevent fires in the OR.
• Assists in counting supplies/instruments to ensure no foreign object is left inside the patient.
• Demonstrates ability to assist a physician during a procedure and differentiates sutures and their applications.
• Participates in department’s process improvement activities.
