Job summary

Merit Health River Region Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team. You will prepare sterile fields, assist with procedures, and ensure instruments and supplies are arranged, tracked, and sterilized to support safe patient care.

Working alongside surgeons and nurses, you will monitor aseptic technique, help with positioning, and participate in counts and instrument turnover to maintain efficiency and accuracy during procedures.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in aseptic techniques and sterile field preparation.
• Ability to anticipate needs of the surgical team and pass instruments accurately.
• Knowlege of infection prevention practices and sterilization methods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain operating room and sterile fields.
• Assist surgeon and perioperative team during procedures.
• Perform counts for sponge, needle, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Clean, reprocess, and sterilize instruments per protocol.
• Maintain equipment readiness for subsequent cases.
