Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Merced is seeking a Surgical Tech to join the OR team. You will provide skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes, preparing the OR and assisting surgeons and nurses by anticipating needs.

You will maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, count items, and handle specimens. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique, and excellent communication to support patient safety in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• CST or TS-C certification required at hire.
• BLS/CPR certification required at hire.
• Ability to take call shifts as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) for procedures.
• Assist surgeons and nurses by anticipating needs and passing instruments.
• Maintain sterile field, count items, and handle specimens.
• Assist with patient positioning and ensure patient safety.
