Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Jersey is seeking an OR Tech II to support the perioperative team in the operating room. You will collaborate with the perioperative RN to prepare and scrub for surgeries and ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes during procedures.

This full-time, hourly position offers a 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm shift, every other weekend and holidays, with benefits including PTO, medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, and more.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program.
• NBSTSA certification is required.
• BLS Healthcare Provider Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and administering age-specific patient care in the operating room.
• Scrub for multiple service lines including robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic and trauma.
• Collaborate with the perioperative team to maintain sterile conditions and promote safe patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with team members and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate‘s educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview

In collaboration with the perioperative registered nurse, the surgical technician will function as a member of the team to organize and administer individualizes age specific care to patients, maintain an environment that facilitates safe patient outcomes, and ensure patient’s physiologic responses to surgery are as expected in the surgical suite and across the perioperative division.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an Surgical Technician training program
• 2 – 3 years of experience
• Must have strong knowledge with skill being able to scrub the following service lines: robotics, vascular, endovascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases and trauma
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbally and written)
• Must be able to make calls. Must be flexible, able to multitask and be able to work independently

Certifications and Licenses Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (NBSTSA) required
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification required with American Heart Association
