Job summary

Shields Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to prepare the OR by sterilizing and setting up equipment, anticipate surgeon needs, and hand instruments during procedures. The role emphasizes maintaining sterile technique and ensuring patient safety throughout operations.

The position is a 32-hour shift with full-time, part-time and per diem opportunities, including a $10,000 sign-on bonus and free parking onsite.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited surgical technician program or equivalent.
• CST certification within 1 year of program completion.
• Minimum 1 year work experience as a surgical technician.
• Experience in Ambulatory Surgery or Outpatient Surgery preferred.
• Experience scrubbing in on orthopedic, plastics, general, and urology cases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects and checks case carts and preference cards for correct instrument pan(s), packs, sterile supplies, and items for timely case start.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments during the procedure.
• Maintains sterile field and adheres to sterile technique throughout the case.
• Prepares and hands off specimens carefully to the circulating nurse with proper labeling.
• Assists with OR setup, equipment maintenance, and OR flow as needed.
