Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN seeks a Surgical Technician to support cardiovascular and neurosurgical procedures. You will prepare the operating room, hand instruments to surgeons, and assist with patient positioning and draping, ensuring accurate instrument counts and sterile technique throughout surgeries.

The role requires NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential and BLS, with an educational pathway ranging from HS equivalency to an associate/technical degree.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential required prior to hire/transfer date.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire or transfer date required.
• Education: HS diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and efficient performance of cardiovascular and/or neurosurgical procedures.
• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor instrument counts throughout procedures and assist with hemostasis during surgery.
