Job summary

Corewell Health's Grosse Pointe Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to maintain the sterile field and prepare the operating room for procedures. You will assist in intraoperative instrument handling and adapt to changing conditions during surgery.

The position is full-time with rotating shifts, 40 hours weekly, and requires a high school diploma, completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program, and BLS certification. Prior clinical rotations count toward experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Associate degree or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program; military training acceptable.
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field.
• Evaluate changing conditions during procedures and respond accordingly.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols; may serve as a preceptor.

Scope of work

The Surgical Technologist II will be responsible for maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, and making appropriate responses as needed. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols. May serve as a preceptor as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• Associate degree or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program (military, etc.) Not all schools require an associate degree Or 1 year of equivalent experience Required
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire Required
