Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for Dearborn Hospital. The role involves maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, and ensuring sterile field throughout procedures.

You will monitor changing conditions during surgeries and respond accordingly, with potential to serve as a preceptor. Requirements include a high school diploma, an accredited Surgical Technology program, and preferred 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program.
• Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred.
• BLS within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of procedures and protocols; may serve as a preceptor.

About this unit

Twenty-five operating rooms perform a vast variety of operative procedures/surgical specialties including Trauma and Open-Heart Surgery Programs. The department provides elective and emergency surgery Monday - Sunday, 24 hours per day. Rotating call, holiday, and weekend assignments.

Scope of work

The Surgical Technologist II will be responsible for maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, and making appropriate responses as needed. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols. May serve as a preceptor as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• Associate degree or equivalent Required
• Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program (military, etc.) Not all schools require an associate degree Or 1 year of equivalent experience Required
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire Required
