Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist to support our Troy Hospital operating room. The role focuses on maintaining the surgical suite, instrument handling, and sterile field preservation, while adapting to intraoperative needs.

You will also act as a preceptor and partner with the education team to advance surgical technology training and protocol adherence. A strong background in CST certification and BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate degree in surgical technology preferred.
• 3 years of independent surgical technologist experience.
• CST certification (NBSTSA) or TS-C NCCT required on hire.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare the surgical suite.
• Intraoperative handling of instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures.
• Monitor changing conditions and respond during surgery.

Scope of Work

The Surgical Technologist Senior will be responsible for maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, and making appropriate responses as needed. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols. Acts as a preceptor and engages with management and education team on surgical technology curriculum.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• Associate's Degree. Completion of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or equivalent training program (military, etc.) Preferred
• 3 years of independent Surgical Technologist experience. Certification must be maintained throughout employment to maintain Senior status Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
• Surgical Technologist Certified (CST) – NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) NCCT Required upon hire
