Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Surgical Technician I for the Surgery department in Los Angeles, CA. The role supports the surgical team under RN supervision, performing scrub duties, prepping sterile equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures.

The position emphasizes aseptic technique, instrument handling, and adherence to safety policies; the candidate should have Sterile Processing training and be a recent graduate eligible to work in a high-paced OR environment.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program (≤6 months post-graduation).
• Recent graduate from an Accredited Sterile Processing Program.
• Working knowledge of instrument processing techniques.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows OS, keyboard and mouse operation.
• Ability to operate sterile processing equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform multiple, complex tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Mansioni

• Performs operative room scrub responsibilities in all surgical/operative procedures.
• Adheres to safety standards and policies (Title 22, JCAHO) during duties.
• Applies aseptic technique and corrects breaks in sterile technique.
• Maintains situational awareness and supports the surgical team during procedures.
• Maintains communication with the circulating nurse and team about patient status and progress.
• Prepares and inventories sterile setup for operations.
• Performs scrub role, passes instruments, and cuts sutures as needed.
• Prepares, cleans, and maintains instruments and equipment per guidelines.
• Transports patients, equipment, and specimens as required.
• Prepares OR by arranging tables, instruments, and supplies.
