Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team, serving as first scrub and assisting surgeons and nurses while maintaining sterile technique.

Requires graduation from a Surgical Technology program and current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification; one year of related experience preferred; must be physically able to lift and move supplies; rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or equivalent experience.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (BCLS).
• Minimum of one year of related surgical experience (Surgical Tech, PCT, CNA or Paramedic).
• Strong aseptic technique and sterile processing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates asepsis and maintains sterile technique during procedures.
• Performs first scrub role on core cases and anticipates surgeon requests.
• Ensures all necessary items and equipment are in the room prior to cases.
• Performs Surgical Assistant duties as needed.
• Follows safety guidelines and reports unsafe conditions.
