Job summary

St. Marys Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist Extern to join the operating room team in a per diem, day-shift capacity.

The role focuses on intraoperative care as the scrub for assigned procedures, managing instrumentation, equipment, and supplies under RN supervision. Responsibilities include selecting and preparing instruments for cases, decontamination, stocking OR rooms, and supporting the surgical team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; enrolled in or recently graduated from a Surgical Technology program; certification preferred.
• Previous OR experience preferred.
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.

• Pick supplies and instruments for cases, put away supplies and equipment, decontaminate instruments, and stock supplies in OR rooms.

The Surgical Technologist Extern is a member of the surgical team who assumes the responsibility for a surgical specialty, serving as the main resource person for instrumentation, equipment, supplies, and procedures within the assigned specialty. He/she functions under the direction of the RN, assisting with the intraoperative care of patients by performing in the scrub role during surgical procedures. Additional duties may also include, but are not limited to, picking supplies/instruments for cases, putting away supplies and equipment, decontamination of instruments, and stocking supplies in OR rooms.

Qualifications

Education:
High School Dipolma or equivalent. Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from specialized training for: An approved program in Surgical Technology. Certification preferred.
