Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a Surgical Tech to join our OR team. You will assist in preparing for surgical procedures, maintain sterile fields, and support surgeons with instrument handling across a range of procedures.

The ideal candidate has active Surgical Technology certification, BCLS, and a clinical background; 1 year of experience preferred. We offer comprehensive benefits and a collaborative environment at our 350+ bed hospital in the Tomball area.

Qualifications

Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training in the Surgical Technologist role is required.
Certification in Surgical Technology
Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred

Responsibilities

Applies aseptic technique and maintains a sterile field.
Prepares for surgery by pulling supplies and instruments.
Recognizes and uses different surgical instruments and their applications.
Assists with procedures with knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Maintains sterile field by proper handling of sharps, medications, electrocautery, and timeout.
Sets up for surgical/endo procedures and counts supplies to prevent leaving objects inside the patient.
Assists physician during procedures and understands the procedure.
Differentiates sutures and their applications.
Maintains teamwork during perioperative care.
Participates in department process improvement activities
