Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks a surgical technologist to support safe, efficient procedures on the 119 Surgery team. You will prepare the operating suite with sterile/non-sterile instruments, hand instruments to the surgeon, and assist with patient positioning and draping.

The role requires completion of a surgical technologist program (or significant related experience) and a preference for a BLS certification. Join a large health system with extensive facilities and a strong trauma program.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.
