Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL seeks a Surgical Technologist to support safe, efficient surgical procedures.

You will prepare the operating room, hand instruments to surgeons, assist with patient positioning and draping, and maintain instrument counts to ensure sterility and readiness throughout cases. Qualifications

• BLS certification preferred; AHA or ARC accepted.
• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component, or minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

Education

BLS Provider Certification (AHA/ARC)

High school diploma or equivalent with surgical technologist program

Associate's degree or technical degree preferred
