Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare West is seeking a Surgical Technologist to scrub and assist in the operating room, ensuring adherence to standards and safety protocols. You will support the surgical team through on-call rotations, equipment preparation, and procedural coordination.

The role requires graduation from a Surgical Technology program, certification, and current BCLS through the American Heart Association.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with standards.

• Promotes hospital processes and goals and communicates issues to the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning over the OR, and assisting with supply inventory.
• Contributes to quality improvement and personal skill development.
• Works to deliver high-quality patient care and supports team morale.

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career-related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.
