Job summary

Intermountain Health LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City is offering a Surgical Technologist apprenticeship. The program combines on-site classwork and lab with hands-on clinical rotations, preparing candidates to work in operating rooms and to sit for the TS-C certification.

The apprenticeship will run at Intermountain Health facilities, with rotations, a 9-month timeline, and start dates in Utah. Upon completion, apprentices may be hired as Surgical Technologists within the system.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: acceptance to Intermountain/SLCC or Intermountain Health Surgical Technology apprenticeship; BLS for healthcare providers; English proficiency; good performance; lawful work status.
• Preferred Qualifications: strong interpersonal and communication skills; organized, detail-oriented; initiative; team and independent work capability; experience with word processing, internet, and email.

Responsibilities

• Attends apprenticeship orientations and completes required paperwork before starting.
• Attends departmental training and completes required training/testing in a timely manner.
• Completes all mandatory training and maintains performance and attendance as required.
• Ensures operating room and instruments meet disinfection and sterilization criteria.
• Maintains sterile field and safe environment.
• Under supervision of a preceptor, prepares OR and instruments for procedures.
• Assists the surgical team during procedures within scope of practice.
• Cleans room and prepares for next procedure after completion.
• Completes class work, lab work, and externship training with passing grades.
