Intermountain Health is offering a Surgical Technologist Apprenticeship in Salt Lake Valley, Utah, with on-site classwork at LDS Hospital. The 9-month program leads to eligibility to work in operating rooms and to pass the TS-C certification through NCCT while gaining hands-on experience on the OR team.

Under supervision of an instructor, preceptor, and RN, apprentices complete all required training, rotations, and externships; after completion, graduates may be hired as Surgical Technologists

Qualifications

• Must be accepted to Intermountain/SLCC apprenticeship or Intermountain Health Surgical Technology apprenticeship.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Candidates must speak, read, and write in English.
• Caregivers must be in good performance standing upon acceptance to the apprenticeship program.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsabilités

• Attend program orientations and complete all required paperwork before starting apprenticeship.
• Attend scheduled departmental training, complete required training and testing in a timely manner.
• Complete all mandatory training as assigned.
• Maintain good performance and attendance per program expectations.
• Ensure the operating room and surgical items meet disinfection and sterilization criteria.
• Maintain sterile field and safe environment.
• Under supervision of a preceptor, prepare the operating room and instruments for procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures within scope of practice.
• After procedure, clean room and prepare for next procedure per protocol.
• Complete all class work, lab work, and externship training with passing grades.
