Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a Surgical Tech to scrub and assist in the OR. The role requires initiation in various duties, on-call availability, and adherence to hospital standards for quality and safety.

As part of our team, you will support surgeons, manage instruments, and help maintain a high level of patient care. A focus on communication, teamwork, and efficient use of resources is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program; certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures following standards (AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company).
• Participates in on-call rotation based on department needs.
• Operates sterilizer and other patient care equipment after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals and communicates issues up the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in other duties such as updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning over the OR, and assisting with supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: strives for high quality performance and implements improvements.
• Personal Achievement: sets and achieves career-related goals and helps others improve.
• Teamwork: builds effective relationships and supports delivery of care.
• Resource Management: demonstrates accountability and sound judgment with hospital resources.
• Customer Service: delivers high quality service adhering to ICARE principles.

Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on‑call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning‑over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career‑related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.
• Teamwork: Builds effective relationships across work groups by treating fellow employees with courtesy, respect and inclusiveness; maintains a positive attitude and takes responsibility for assignments. What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist Experience is Required.
