Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is seeking a Surgical Tech to scrub and assist in the operating room. The role involves preparing and scrubbing procedures, on-call participation, and operating sterilization and related equipment after training. You will promote hospital processes, communicate issues up the chain, and engage in room turnover and supply management.

The position emphasizes teamwork, quality improvements, and personal skill development within a large, community-focused health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on department needs.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment after training.
• Promotes hospital processes and communicates issues to the chain of command.
• Updates surgeon preference cards, pulls case carts, stocks rooms, turns over the OR, and assists with supplies.
• Aims for high quality performance and delivers improvements.
• Sets and achieves personal career-related goals and helps others improve skills.
• Builds teamwork and helps deliver patient care efficiently.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

• Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
• Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
• Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
• Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
• Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
• Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
• Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career-related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.
• Teamwork: Builds effective relationships across work groups by treating fellow employees with courtesy, respect and inclusiveness; maintains a positive attitude and takes responsibility for assignments. What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
• Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year or more of Surgical Technologist Experience is Required.
