The role supports ortho and knee/hip surgeries, ensuring sterile technique, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures. The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, CST and BLS certification, and 1–2 years of OR scrub tech experience in multiple specialties, including orthopedics.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program.
• 1–2 years of operating room experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties, including Ortho.
• CST & BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up the instruments and equipment required for the procedure.
• Sterilize equipment and take inventory to ensure sufficient supplies for surgery.
• Prepare the patient for surgery.
• Pass the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the operation.
• Take a count of all surgical sponges and sharps prior to the operation.
• Recount surgical instruments and supplies at the end of the operation.
• Maintain an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery.
• Stock rooms, pick supplies for cases, assist with departmental daily tasks.

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician is responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room.

• Setting up the instruments and equipment that is required for the procedure
• Sterilizing equipment and taking an inventory to ensure there are enough supplies for surgery
• Preparing the patient for surgery
• Passing the Surgeon instruments and sterile supplies throughout the operation
• Taking a count of all surgical sponges and sharps prior to the operation
• Recounting surgical instruments and supplies at the end of the operation
• Maintaining an overall sterile environment throughout the surgery
• Stocking rooms, picking supplies for cases, assisting with departmental daily tasks.

No Weekends/No Major Holidays/No Call Required

Schedule: 10 hour shifts

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma / GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Certification Program.
