Job summary

North Atlantic Surgical Suites, an ambulatory surgical center in Salem, NH, seeks a Surgical First Assistant for a full-time role focused on total knee/hip replacement and orthopedic spine surgeries.

The position requires an SH Diploma, surgical technician training, NBSTSA certification, and 2 years of orthopedic CS-FA experience, with no weekends/holidays/call. A sign-on bonus up to $2,500 is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Program required.
• NBSTSA Surgical First Assistant Certification required.
• Two years of Certified Surgical First Assistant experience in an orthopedic setting or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons by arranging and handing over tools during procedures.
• Hold incisions open as directed and assist with exposure as needed.
• Dress surgical wounds and ensure sterile technique throughout the procedure.

• Total Hip and Knee Replacement
• Surgeries of the Lumbar and Cervical Spine including Kyphoplasty & Vertebroplasty

Job Summary:

A Surgical First assistant plays a vital role in a successful surgical procedure. They are primarily in charge of assisting surgeons, such as by arranging and handing over tools, holding open incisions, and dressing surgical wounds. No Weekends, No Major Holidays & No Call Required.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma / GED
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Program.
• NBSTSA Surgical First Assistant Certification required.
• Two years of Certified Surgical First Assistant experience in an orthopedic setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other skills and abilities: General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures in an operating room.
