Job summary

Pinnacle Fertility is seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Tech to support patients through their fertility journey in Chicago, IL. This full-time, onsite role runs Monday through Friday with an 8.5-hour shift, including a 30-minute unpaid meal period.

You will assist with procedures, maintain EMR records, educate patients, and ensure aseptic technique while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CST certification strongly preferred; BLS required.
• One-year post-secondary certificate or Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in Operating Room required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in a range of surgical procedures and support operations.
• Maintain accurate EMR records.
• Educate patients on treatment plans and protocols.
• Ensure aseptic techniques and sterile setup for procedures.
• Prepare and maintain the surgical setup and assist during surgeries.

About the Role

The Surgery Tech is a vital role in supporting patients throughout their fertility journey. We are seeking compassionate, detail-oriented individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As a Surgery Tech, you will support both the clinic and surgery center by assisting with patient care, preparing for and supporting procedures, providing patient education, and collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team. In this role, you will help ensure every patient receives exceptional, compassionate care at every step of their path to parenthood.

We are seeking a Surgery Tech to join our dedicated team at Pinnacle Fertility – Illinois in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time, onsite position working Monday through Friday. Employees are generally scheduled to work a consistent 8.5-hour shift (including a 30-minute unpaid meal period) between the hours of 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Occasional flexibility with start and end times may be required to support patient care and the operational needs of the surgery center.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in a range of surgical procedures, including but not limited to Egg Retrieval, Dilatation and Curettage (D&C), Hysteroscopy, Vasectomy Reversal, Testicular Sperm Aspiration, Varicocelectomies, and more.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR).
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medication protocols, and preventive care measures.
• Ensure strict adherence to aseptic techniques, including proper equipment setup and usage to maintain a sterile environment.
• Prepare and maintain the surgical setup, sterile field, and assist during surgeries to promote a safe and efficient environment of care.
• May prepare, maintain, and assist within the Operating Room (OR), ensuring sterile technique, proper equipment setup, and smooth clinical flow.
• Assist with patient positioning, ensuring their comfort and safety in the Operating Room.
• Support room turnover, decontamination, sterilization, and equipment maintenance in compliance with recommended guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with the Surgical Team to manage daily workload effectively.Maintain inventory to ensure the availability of necessary supplies for surgical procedures.Coordinate with external equipment representatives and vendors to ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.Adhere to infection control and safety standards to maintain a clean and organized environment.Assist with inventory management and clinical supply ordering.Respond to patient inquiries and provide outstanding customer service.Perform other duties and support special projects as assigned.

  Position Requirements

  • Education & Licensure:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of a Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
    • Completion of a one-year certificate program from an accredited college or technical school.
    • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is highly preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is required.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
    • Experience in Operating Room (OR) required.
    • 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of surgical protocols, compliance requirements, and infection control standards.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills to ensure effective collaboration and patient care.

  Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour (final offers based on experience, skills, and qualifications).
