Mercy in St. Louis is hiring an entry-level perioperative support team member. Under the perioperative leader, you assist in individualized patient care and perform designated clinical and non-clinical tasks to support the surgical team. Must have a high school diploma; one year of clinical hospital experience preferred; BLS required or may obtain within 90 days; CNA may be required per location. This role emphasizes safety and teamwork within Mercy policies.

Under the direction of the perioperative leader, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

• Required Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred Education:
• Experience:
• One-year clinical experience within a hospital may be required per location of employment. One year OR experience preferred.
• Licensure:
• None required.
• Certifications:
• BLS required or may obtain within 90 days of hire. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be required per location of employment.
• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements
• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

• Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
• Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: ex: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Safe Patient Handling
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.
