Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City seeks a surgical technician to join the perioperative team. You will assist in the individualized care of patients under the perioperative leader and collaborate with a dedicated team during operating room support.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS (or obtained within 90 days), and CNA may be required depending on location, with a schedule of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One-year clinical experience within a hospital may be required per location of employment.
• Preferred experience: One year OR experience.
• BLS certification required or may be obtained within 90 days of hire; CNA may be required per location of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individualized patient care under the direction of the perioperative leader.
• Work cooperatively with others as part of a team; participate in patient care tasks.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to perioperative care.
• Utilize unit-specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain communications (pagers, Rover, etc.).

Position Details:

Location: Mercy Hospital - Oklahoma City (W Memorial Rd)

Shift: Full Time (36 hours/week)

Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts/week

Overview:

Under the direction of the perioperative leader, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One-year clinical experience within a hospital may be required per location of employment.
• Preferred Experience: One year OR experience.
• Certifications: BLS required or may obtain within 90 days of hire. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be required per location of employment.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Safety/Risk Management:

• Follows Mercy policy and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
• Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: ex: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Safe Patient Handling.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.

Technology:

• Utilizes unit specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain appropriate communications (ex: computer, pagers, zone phones, Rover, etc.).
