Job summary

SIU Medicine in Springfield, IL seeks a Skills Coordinator who provides administrative oversight of the Surgical Skills Center, supervises staff and collaborates with faculty to develop new curricula. The role also serves as a Surgical Skills Coach, guiding residents, students, and allied health professionals.

On-site position focusing on budgeting, program scheduling, accreditation efforts, and expansion into 3D printing capacity, with interaction across SIU Public Affairs and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing, surgical technology or related field and at least five years of OR experience; or
• Certification as CST with at least five years of OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate annual budget planning and oversee Center activities.
• Serve as primary Center contact within SIU School of Medicine and with external partners.
• Oversee scheduling, evaluation and delivery of resident curriculums and skills center activities.
• Provide faculty development for users of the skills center and staff.
• Develop new relationships to enhance programs and pursue accreditation efforts.
