Job summary

SIU School of Medicine seeks a dentist to provide patient care at the Center for Family Medicine in Springfield and to coordinate training experiences for dental students and residents. The role includes mentoring, supervising students, and developing curriculum to integrate oral health with primary care.

The candidate will work with the Chief Dental Officer and participate in quality improvement and academic activities within the SIU CFM program.

Qualifications

• DDS or DMD degree required or in hand at time of hire.
• Licensed or eligible to practice dentistry in Illinois.
• Sensitive to the needs of underserved populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor dental students and residents rotating through the Springfield site.
• Supervise dental students in the provision of care to patients.
• Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the FCM residency program.
• Provide direct dental services to patients at the SIU CFM dental clinic in Springfield.
• Supervise dental hygienists and dental assistants; participate in quality improvement activities.
