Job summary

Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support operating room teams across general, orthopedics, plastics, ENT, cardiovascular, and neurosurgery services. The role requires helping prepare instruments, assisting surgeons, and maintaining sterile technique in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

The candidate must be a certified surgical technologist, hold BLS, and complete required CEUs while adapting to a 4/10 shift with holiday and on-call expectations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist certification within four months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to utilize advanced surgical technology.
• Complete 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate needs within 12 months.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies.

We are on the lookout for passionate individuals who are committed to excellence in patient care, to become part of our collaborative workforce at one of Indiana's premier Level I pediatric trauma hospitals.

This is a full time role working 4 10's, 11:00am-11:00pm. Holiday and call required.

Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
