Job summary

Riley Hospital for Children is hiring a Surgical Skilled Technologist for night shifts (7:00pm–7:00am), 3 shifts per week with holidays and call required. You will support pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, ensuring sterile field and proper equipment.

This role collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in a Level I pediatric trauma setting. The position requires a high school diploma, NBSTSA certification within four months, BLS, and ongoing CEUs to maintain credentials.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• NBSTSA Surgical Technologist certification within four months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to resource advanced technology in the OR.
• Requires 15 CEUs annually as mandated by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate needs of the surgeon.
• Knowledge of names and functions of surgical equipment/instrumentation.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in the operating room before each operation.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assist in turnover of the operating room after procedures, including specimen/equipment processing.
• Work as part of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs, and other staff.

This is a full time night shift role working 3 12's, 7:00pm-7:00am. Holiday and call required.

Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
