Job summary

Brown University Health seeks an entry-level Surgical Services Support Associate to transport patients to and from the operating room, assist with preoperative scrubs, and help prepare supplies for procedures in Rhode Island Hospital.

You will participate in stocking rooms, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and delivering specimens and cultures to appropriate areas, contributing to a safe, efficient surgical environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and report such to nursing personnel.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• On-the-job training 1–3 months.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques to ensure proper cleaning of rooms, equipment and materials.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from the surgical suite.
• Reviews preoperative patient charts to ensure forms are signed and tests are completed; informs nursing personnel of discrepancies.
• Assists in surgical room preparation by ensuring basic supplies are available.
• Cleans furniture and equipment between cases; stocks supplies.
• Assists in prepping patients for surgery and in preoperative scrubs; lifts and positions patients.
• Delivers cultures and surgery specimens to designated areas of the Hospital for analysis.
• Assists in general cleaning and maintenance of the Operating Room and sterilization processes.
