Job summary

Brown University Health, Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI, seeks a non-medical Support Services Assistant to transport patients to and from the surgical suite and assist in preoperative scrubs. You will help lift and position patients and prepare equipment for procedures.

Responsibilities include stocking supplies, preparing sterilized items, and assisting with cleaning and maintaining the operating rooms. A high school diploma and basic English skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English, with ability to perform simple numerical calculations.
• 1–3 months on-the-job training and experience.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques to ensure proper cleaning of rooms, equipment and materials.
• Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and report to nursing personnel.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from the surgical suite.
• Reviews preoperative charts to ensure forms are signed and tests completed.
• Assists in preoperative scrubs and in lifting/positioning patients.
• Cleans and prepares equipment, facilities, and supplies for procedures.
• Stocks supplies and assists with cleaning in the operating rooms.
• Assembles patient record packets and charge slips.
