Responsibilities

• Lifts and transports patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds using proper body mechanics.
• Transports patients and other items (belongings, specimens, carts, wheelchairs) to destinations.
• Inform clinical staff of changes in patient condition or equipment issues.
• Verify patient identification by matching ticket info with wristband.
• Track transport assignments using electronic software (initiated, completed, delayed, or canceled).
• Collects and returns equipment, disinfects it, and reports repairs needed.
• Maintain patient information confidentiality at all times.
• May collect patient equipment from soiled areas.
• May pickup and deliver patient medications (excluding controlled substances).
