Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, TX, seeks a full-time Nursing Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the surgical services department, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

This role drives departmental planning, financial management, staffing, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to optimize outcomes, efficiency, patient satisfaction, and a positive work culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is required
• Master's degree preferred for advancement opportunities
• 3-5 years leadership experience in a surgical services setting
• 7+ years of nursing experience with progressive leadership responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily operations of the Surgical Services department, ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation for safe patient care.
• Leads quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, surgical outcomes, and operational performance.
• Coordinates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and stakeholders to optimize patient flow and interdisciplinary communication.
• Recruits, mentors, and retains skilled surgical services staff and supports ongoing professional development.
• Monitors care processes and outcomes, addresses patient concerns, and implements improvement strategies.
• Drives a positive work culture to achieve high employee satisfaction and retention.
• Responds to patient care issues, conducts investigations, and implements corrective actions as needed.
• Keeps current with industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain compliance.
• Establishes KPIs and uses data-driven insights to measure departmental success.
• Collaborates with Supply Chain to manage inventory and equipment usage.
• Participates in strategic planning to expand services and strengthen market position.
