Job summary

East Houston Medical Center in Houston, Texas seeks a Director of Nursing for Surgical Services. You will provide executive oversight of OR, Day Surgery, PACU, Endoscopy, and Central Sterile, shaping clinical excellence and patient safety across perioperative care.

Lead staffing, budgets, and collaboration with physicians and anesthesia, driving performance improvement and standards compliance while fostering a culture of empowerment and continuous development for nursing teams.

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited institution
• Current RN license in Texas
• BLS certification
• PALS certification
• PLAS certification a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership over Surgical Services, ensuring safe, quality-driven patient care
• Develop and implement operational goals, quality measures, and performance improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and clinical standards
• Manage departmental budget and resource optimization
• Lead and develop nursing leadership and staff
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and multidisciplinary teams
• Monitor staffing levels and workforce development
• Serve as a role model of nursing excellence and patient-centered care
• Support evidence-based practices and ongoing education
