Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Inventory Clerk in the Operating Room to maintain par levels on stocked implants and coordinate with the Supply Chain Manager to ensure timely availability. The role includes data entry, returns processing, and collaboration with Central Sterile and vendors.

Preferred experience with surgical supplies is recommended; a High School Diploma and 1–3 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1-3 years or greater.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains par level on stocked implants while balancing inventory turns and on-hand supplies.
  • Identifies and evaluates slow-moving stock; coordinates with Supply Chain Manager to keep inventory current and par levels.
  • Provides data entry charges and adjustments for all surgical and angio procedures; maintains confidentiality of vital patient information.
  • Initiates revenue analysis review of surgical cases meeting review criteria at time of case posting.
  • Returns implants promptly and keeps documentation regarding returns.
  • Adds new item numbers for new products; forwards numbers to Central Sterile Clinical Manager and CDM Coordinator.
  • Coordinates changes in implant type with preference list coordinators.
  • Uses OR management and Materials Management software to project implant needs and minimize handling/shipping costs.
  • Maintains communication with manufacturers and Materials Management and Central Sterile regarding implant supplies, back orders and vendor returns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES
  • Maintains par level on stocked implants while balancing maximum inventory turns with having supplies on hand to meet need.
  • Identifies and evaluates slow moving stock. Coordinates with Supply Chain Manager to keep inventory current & manage par levels.
  • Provides data entry charges and adjustments for all surgical and angio procedures. Maintains confidentiality of vital patient information.
  • Initiates revenue analysis review of surgical cases meeting review criteria at time of case posting.
  • Returns implants without delay. Keeps complete documentation regarding returns.
  • Adds new item numbers for new products brought into Operating Room. Forwards new items numbers to Central Sterile Clinical Manager and CDM Coordinator.
  • Effectively coordinates changes in implant type, make, etc with preference list coordinators.
  • Utilizes OR management software and Materials Management software to identify and project implant needs to assure availability of implants for surgical cases while minimizing implant handling/ shipping costs.
  • Maintains ongoing communication with manufacturers and Materials Management and Central Sterile regarding implant supplies, back orders and vendor returns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
