Job summary

Methodist Hospitals in Merrillville, IN is seeking a Hospital Transport Tech to support the Surgical Services team. You will safely move patients to and from the Operating Room using wheelchairs, stretchers, or carts, while upholding Universal Precautions and maintaining a clean environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient positioning, preparing attire for change, restocking supplies, and ensuring secure transfer of equipment and specimens as directed by nurses.

Qualifications

• Ability to take directions and communicate clearly.
• High School Diploma or GED required; 1 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing clean equipment to the OR and return clean items to storage.
• Assist in positioning patients on the OR table and in lifting and transferring patients.
• Assist outpatients with changing into surgical attire and secure valuables.
• Clean and scrub sinks between uses and restock supplies in OR rooms.
• Safely transport patients to the Surgical Services area using wheelchairs, stretchers, or carts.
• Empty, wash, and reline kick buckets; damp mop OR floor and disinfect surfaces after surgery.
• Provide directions to family and visitors to surgical waiting area.
• Restock linens and PPE daily.
• Keep surgery cabinets clean and stocked.
• Transport specimens and cultures to the appropriate service area.
