Job summary

Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis is seeking a Patient Transporter. You will move patients and items safely, identify patients, and coordinate with care teams during transfers.

You will monitor oxygen equipment, ensure proper handoffs, and maintain patient safety and confidentiality. Responsibilities include transporting deceased patients and logging cold-storage times, storing beds and equipment, using PPE, and sanitizing transport gear after each use.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must pass training in oxygen equipment and infection control policies.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform patient transfers.
• Able to stand/walk for long periods; frequent mobility.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients and items safely within the hospital.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and ensure proper handoffs.
• Monitor oxygen equipment during transport and maintain safety.
• Transport deceased patients and complete morgue paperwork.
• Maintain PPE and sanitize transport gear after use.
