Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of a Scrub Technician program.
• Two years of experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties preferred.
• Certification in scrub techniques is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure sterility of supplies and instruments during setup.
• Assist circulating nurse in maintaining a sterile environment.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre-operatively and intra-operatively.
• Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
• Assist in maintaining accuracy of physician preference cards.
• Retain all specimens and confirm source/name with surgeon.
• Transport equipment to cleaning areas and assist in reprocessing.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality for patients and staff.
• Follow PPE, hand hygiene and safety guidelines.
• Participate in emergency preparedness drills.
• Be a resource to other health care team members.
• Attend inservices, conferences, and meetings as required.
