Job summary

Essen Health Care, the largest privately held multispecialty medical group in New York, seeks a surgical coordinator to manage surgeon schedules and ensure pre-surgery steps are completed. You will coordinate procedures, insurance documentation, and related scheduling tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Ideal candidates have strong organizational and communication skills, with 1–2 years in scheduling and healthcare or customer service. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of working experience in the medical field or customer service.
  • Healthcare experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements and medical terminology preferred.
  • Minimum 1–2 years scheduling experience.
  • Experience with ECW strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Superb communication skills (written, oral, and listening).
  • Must maintain professionalism and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedules surgeries, follow-up appointments as designated by physicians.
  • Interacts with patients, physicians and other staff within the Clinic and at outside facilities.
  • Coordinates processes and routes all paperwork to meet physician and facility requirements.
  • Ensures efficient telephone communication.
  • Documents work processes as required.
  • Follows all protocols of the Clinic.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and families.
  • Recognizes and responds to urgent situations per protocols.
  • Maintains effective relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
  • Books surgeries based on physician volume and turn-around times.
  • Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions.
  • Follows safety, confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
